OUR MAJORS ECONOMETRICS An econometrics major will equip you to carry out sophisticated analysis of both operational and policy issues, which can be applied to tasks as varied as generating forecasts of share-price volatility and analysing the e ect of changes in price on water use by households. Econometrics uses statistical tools to model the relationships between variables in economics and business. It provides insight to support business decisions and to model and forecast business and economic activity. Graduates of econometrics are in high demand in international trade policy, energy-demand modelling and modelling of consumer choice. sydney.edu.au/business/ugmajors/ econometrics MAJORS FROM BEYOND THE BUSINESS SCHOOL ECONOMICS Economics looks at the behaviour of people and rms in making choices about the consumption, distribution and production of goods and services. Economists contribute both at a 'macro' level, such as advising the Reserve Bank of Australia to raise or lower interest rates, and at a 'micro' level by analysing interest rate changes and advising management on strategy. Majors in econometrics and economics are available to Business School students in any of our undergraduate degrees.
