MANAGEMENT If your ambition is to be a chief executive or a senior manager, this major will allow you to begin your career with a comprehensive understanding of the principles of effective management and some of its key skills. An effective manager needs to be a good leader who can accurately sum up a situation and make a sound decision, delegate appropriately and be an inspiration to their staff. Good decisions are made when managers understand the business they are in and how it fits into a wider context. Management at Sydney is taught by internationally recognised scholars who are actively involved in leading research in a wide variety of management-related areas. It covers a thorough analysis of management processes and looks at how to implement strategies in a variety of business situations. Your understanding will be strengthened further if you combine your management major with another major such as accounting or finance, complementing your understanding of management with specific skills and expertise. sydney.edu.au/business/ugmajors/ management “My management major has helped me forge the skills and contacts I needed to work in an international company and taught me the key things that make an effective manager in today’s ever-changing business world.” EMA KARAVDIC MANAGEMENT MAJOR 34
